Importance of Scholarships.
The major importance of scholarships is that they help people pay for their schooling. College can cost a lot of money, and getting some for free can really take the burden off of people. Some people are not able to afford college and to get a start with the scholarship is very important to people. The scholarships motivate students to strive for good grades and continue to do their talent, like play in sports, to go to college for less money. They are a great way to help start your future, since it is important to go to college and get a good job. Scholarships can help you when getting into a college, since they will see on your resume that you applied and got one. Especially a merit-based scholarship, it can show that you stood out among your peers, and that would look great for when you are trying to get into a college.

Reflection Blog
What I have left to do:
1.) Turn in application/apply
2.) Pay application fee
3.) Get letters of recommendations
4.) Send SAT scores
5.) Send ACT scores
6.) Apply for FAFSA
When tasks will get accomplished:
1.) Applying for early decision, around November.
2.) Paying application fee when applying, around November.
3.) Start asking around August/late September.
4.) Around August-September.
5.) Around August/September.
6.) Around February.
Academically, am I where I need to be?
-As of right now, I am where I need to be. My SAT score is above the minimums for the colleges that I have chosen. Most of the colleges also will not require you to have a minimum if you are in the top ten percent of your class, which I am. I am not as high in my GPA or SAT scores as I would like to be, but I could work harder on those and retake the test.
Are these colleges really the ones for me or do I need to modify my search?
-I may want to modify my search some to find more of what will help me with my career choice. About two of my three choices for colleges do apply for that, but I would like to find more options in state so I am not limited. The other college I chose because I have just wanted to go there since forever, and it is still an option, but I am uncertain as to whether or not it is the best for my career.

College Degree/ US&Israel school rating
1.) A college degree is honestly necessary and worth the time and money put in for economic and social success. A lot of jobs today are requiring some sort of degree for someone to work for them. The time and the money might not seem like it is worth it at the time, but in the long run it is worth every second that goes into it. Also, it helps when you are applying for a job. When they are trying to decide whether or not they are going to hire person a or person b for the job and one has a degree and one does not, they are going to go with the one that has the degree. It also helps with the kind of job that you get, if you have a degree, you are more likely to not only get a higher paying job, but probably keep it as well. It also is worth getting the career that you dream of. It is easy to go get a temporary job at like McDonald's or something, but to get a permanent job takes tons of work. The work may seem like a lot, but in the end it will pay off when you have the degree to do what you have always wanted.
2.) I think that the United States does not have as much opportunity college wise as Israel. In Israel, there is a college that you can go to with other students to learn amongst other different, diverse cultures. This is a great opportunity to see how others live and how they do certain things. Israel makes their students go to school until they are 16, but the education after that is free/optional. I think that this does not really encourage students to go and do what they want or even care about their education. Same with them making the Israel students, male and female, go into the military for three and two years. This is not something that everyone wants to do and go into. Overall, I rank the US a little higher in opportunity because they let the students be what they want and not make them do something. Israel is a little behind the US in ranking because they do give people the opportunity to do schooling with people that have different cultures and experience and learn the differences.

Spring Break
Starting Friday I am going to spend the whole weekend with some of my best friends. We are probably going to do some activities such as go bowling, go to the movies, go prom dress shopping, and go fishing. I am not sure if we will spend the whole week together, but probably most of it. I also am going to work on a poetry project over the break, but not so much since I am almost done with it. I also plan on catching up on some sleep and maybe watch some Netflix. Other than that, I plan on being lazy. :)

Friday Blog Post 2-20-15
1.) The most influential leader I have had would have to be my mother. She always inspires me to do more with my life, to be something. She is always there for me and is always backing me up in life. She works hard and is good at what she does and it makes me want to do the same and become something. She lets me know it is okay to make mistakes and honestly helps me get through everyday.
2.) I think Mr. Keating means that poetry is the emotional part of life. It is filled with so much passion and emotion and that is what humans stay alive for. Other things such as medicine, law, and business are things that help us get by, but poetry is something that makes us feel alive. I do agree because poetry is something that allows you to release your inner thoughts and feelings. Other professions do not really allow you to express yourself like writing does. I honestly like poetry because it is something beautiful that is different in so many ways. I think we read it as something that we can escape to and relate to as well as enjoy.
3.) I really like the quote because it encourages people to see things differently and not go by the book. It is really uplifting and shows you that there are other opinions on things. I do agree because everyone has a different view on things and we should not be confined to one opinion. One time in art I was told how to draw things differently and at first I did not agree but I started to think about it and took it into consideration.
4.) The verse I would like to contribute to the world would have to be, be happy. I hope to leave behind the impression that you should do whatever you want because you are only given one life and you should not live it doing what others want you to do rather than what you want to do.

Thursday's Blog Dead Poet's Society
1.) I do think that Neil would have committed suicide if Mr. Keating had never come into his life because his father would still be just as strict about Neil's career path. He would have been just as unhappy about what was going on. He would be just as depressed about not doing what he loved. He felt as if there was no escape and he could only result to that.
2.) I think the bravest of all the Dead Poets Society was Charlie. He was the one who stood up for Mr. Keating when the one kid tried to turn on him, which even resulted in him punching the kid. He believed in standing for what he thought was right, which took a lot of courage. The boy who was a coward was Neil. Instead of him standing up for what he believed, he took the easy way out and killed himself.
3.) I do think that Mr. Keating put the book in Neil's room. When telling the guys about the society, I think he could tell they were curious and that it was going to start up again. Also after Neil committed suicide, he saw the book and looked at it as if he were proud. I think that he did put it there after he said administration would not look favorably on it because he wanted them to go beyond. He wanted them to start to do this to have a passion for poetry and a different view on it. Since the school wanted them to follow the guidelines so much, he wanted to give them the chance to see the different approaches of the poetry.

Theme (Live life)
The theme of the movie Dead Poets Society would be to live life. Neil was afraid of doing what he loved, acting, because of his father. Instead of living how he wanted and doing what he wanted, he took the easy way out and killed himself. Mr. Keating was the one who tried to encourage this, especially living life seeing others opinions and views. Todd was also another person who ended up living life. At first, he was the one who was very shy and did not want to participate in any of the events, even in the reading in the Dead Poets Society. He eventually started to living life and doing his potential after Mr. Keating taught him to do so. He even stood up for him after he was leaving because of getting fired. In the end, Neil's death started to affect everyone, showing them that life is too short and you never know what is going to happen. Especially that you need to do what you love because otherwise you will end up not fully living life. Knox was the one that who spent his time trying to chase this girl, who he ended up getting. He eventually started to overcome his fear which was not being with the girl, and started taking chances. All of them eventually start to learn from Mr. Keating along with the suicide of Neil.
