Christmas

My plans for Christmas this year are very different from every other year. This Saturday morning we are going to be headed to Disney World for vacation and we will be gone for the week, including Christmas day. The Friday before we leave we are going to go give our gifts to all of our friends and family since we will be gone and wont see them Christmas day. This year I am asking for some new boots, some clothes, jewelry, and makeup.

College

By going to college, I hope to get the job that I want and the education that I need. I am going to college for myself, so I can succeed in life and I am also going for my future family so I can support them. The characteristic that matters the most when going to college is responsibility. Being on your own, you may have no motivation to do anything, but you have to continue to do your work so you can pass and graduate. The input I will seek when going to college would probably be my mother's since she went to the college that I want to go to, so she could tell me about how it was and some tips. College can help me achieve the goal of being successful in my life. I want to have a job somewhere in the medical field, so going to college can help me achieve this as well.

Thanksgiving plans

For Thanksgiving, I plan on doing tons of homework. I have to work on a research paper for English and my History final which is watching videos and writing papers over them. Friday I am going to probably go to my grandparents house for Thanksgiving dinner. I may go Black Friday shopping as well depending on time.

Job

On the website http://www.snagajob.com/ I found that there are more job opportunities for teen than I expected. The website was easy to work and I found quite a few jobs that I would actually consider doing. I found a part-time job at the Taco Cabana in Waxahachie as apart of the cleaning crew. This job is appropriate for teens, especially for one of the first few jobs a teen will have, because it is more of a job you get to learn some responsibility before taking on more responsibility with a job where you are a manager where you have to have more experience. The job is also appropriate for students at this age since it is part-time, and many people at this age would have to take a job that works with their school schedule as well as their personal schedule. To prepare for a possible interview, I would of course take a resume that lists my experience and all of my accomplishments. A good way that I could prepare for a possible interview would be to think of the possible questions that they may ask me and just prepare some answers up for the interview. A good way to prepare for a job interview would to also to do some research on the job and know what to expect and what it is all about as well as the company. Picking out a professional outfit for the interview can help because it makes you look prepared as well as nice instead of showing up in a laid back outfit looking sloppy, then they might not even consider hiring you. The level of difficulty on finding a job online was not that bad. There are tons of jobs that I easily found in my are in just a couple of tries. The difficult part is finding a job that suits you personally, what you would be comfortable doing, what fits your schedule, and what kind of salary you would like to be earning.

Liz Murray movie

I thought that the film was pretty amazing. To go from homeless to college is a big change that would require a lot of work. It is awesome that she did not give up and continued to make something of herself. My favorite part of the movie would have to be when she started going to school again when she was a teenager since she did not have anyone to motivate her or tell her to go but she did it because she wanted more for herself. She wanted to change who she was for the better instead of having the attitude that she can not change her life. I personally do not think I would have been as resilient because to grow up in that environment I probably would know that life and not be as motivated to do something good for myself. Also, I would probably be so adjusted to that lifestyle and once I would be so used to it, it would be hard to completely change everything and start going to school.

Budget

The surprising thing about my budget was the fact that I will be able to barely support myself. I did expect things to be expensive, but not as much as it was. I did not expect that I would not be paying for my insurance at this time, I thought I would start paying for that when I got to college. I am honestly not too ready to take on some of these responsibilities like paying for all of these different bills and start working, because I have done neither before. When it comes to the responsibility of the school work, I am ready for that responsibility because I do a pretty good job keeping organized and getting things done. I did realize that I am going to have to rely more on myself and not anyone else because I am going to be going into the real world and I need to become more of an adult. To prepare for those expenses later, I could get a job now and use those earnings to save up for things like my book expenses.

Top Career

My top career choice is a Pediatrician. I am really interested in this career choice because I would love to help people get better. I am interested because the human body and how it functions and illnesses in general are interesting to me. The reason I specifically want to be a Pediatrician is because I love children and I think they are adorable and they would make my job a lot more fun. I think it would be fun finding out what is wrong with people and figuring out what to do to help them get back to normal.

Stress Test

On the stress test, I scored a 13 out of 24. The score means I have my life fairly in control, but some habits can cause some unnecessary stress. School is the number one thing that stresses me out, mostly because there is just too much going on for one person. The classes I take mostly stress me out because I try to push myself and do Dual Credit and Pre-AP classes and they are not very easy. English Dual Credit is stressful because I am going to be writing a lot of papers. History Dual credit is also stressful because there is a lot of reading each week, and I also have other classes to worry about. Another thing that stresses me out is having to remember to do things. The reason that stresses me out is because if I do not remember to do a task, like homework, it will not get done. Grades stress me out as well. I do not like to get bad grades because my ranking will then go down as well as my GPA and I am trying to be in the top 10% of my class. Clubs and extra activities can be stressful for me because I do have a lot of classwork and adding things like Student Council and National Honors Society can be a lot for someone. Especially since the clubs can take up some of the free time I like to use to get some classwork done. How I deal with my stress is I try to break things up. Like I will do certain assignments on one day and others the next day so I wont have so much to do in one night. I also use my free time to get things done so I do not fall behind and get even more stressed. The way I deal with remembering things is I set alarms on my phone or write them down in my notes where I will see it and remember to do it.

Organization

My current method of organization is a planner. Using a planner does work because you can write down your homework assignments and when things are do so you do not forget. Procrastination hurts because assignments build up really quick and if you start to get behind, it can become very stressful. To fight procrastination, you can use any free time to get ahead on work that you need to get done.

Me

My name is Madelyn. I am 16 years old and I am a Junior in high school. I go to Life School and have been since kindergarten. My favorite color is red, my favorite food is Chinese, and my favorite drink is Fanta grape. In my spare time I like to hang out with friends, go shopping, or just chill around the house and sleep. After I graduate high school, I want to go to college at Texas Tech, Baylor, or TCU and do something in the medical field. In the future I want to get married and have children, and after that I would like to travel to many different places including Ireland, London, and Hawaii. I hope to be able to know how to be able to apply to schools, be more organized, and apply for scholarships.
